CUTTER

She said

“open her legs”

Women, all in black held me down at 8 years old,

Told me,

I am woman.

The cutter, takes a knife out her pouch and puts her head between my legs

“You will become woman”

I didn’t know what any of it meant,

The pain, as if someone just traced a knife along my spine and poured salt over it.

She watches, proud of the job.
