Volunteers Wanted

We’re looking for a team of volunteers to help us deliver an event and exhibition relating to As We Speak, a brilliant arts funding project presented by Birmingham 2022 Festival.

Are you passionate about the arts?

Are you interested in a project trying to change the landscape of arts funding?

Do you enjoy engaging with art from other countries?

Have any free time in early September?

As We Speak has run throughout 2022, and funded 10 international artists (6 individuals and a collective of 3 people) to continue their practice with as few strings attached as possible. Call it trust-based funding, an experiment, a provocation – it’s exciting.

The documentary behind the process will be debuted on Thursday September 8th at the Old Print Works in Birmingham, and an exhibition featuring works from the artists will remain in place on Friday September 9th and Saturday September 10th. We’re looking for volunteers for the live event and the exhibition.

What will you do?

For the event, we need folks to act as a point of contact for information about the event, help audiences navigate the space, offer food and drink to guests, communicate with the project delivery team, and ensure smooth running.

08/09/2022 – 18:00 – 21:30
09/09/2022 – 10:00 – 13:00 / 13:00 – 16:00
10/09/2022 – 10:00 – 13:00 / 13:00 – 16:00

For the exhibition, you’ll be the same point of contact and navigation help, but also help explain the artworks and signpost audiences to where they might find out more about the project or the artists involved.

What do you get?

As well as being part of this fantastic series of events, you will be offered a contribution of £25 per shift for your time and to cover expenses (travel etc.)

You’ll need to be 18+ to be eligible to volunteer for us.

Please email willjamott@gmail.com to register your interest.
