The Rap Poet

Using a unique fusion of poetry, spoken word, music and art.

Bio

Poetry,
Music

Rap Poet is a performer and artist who fuses poetry, spoken word and music. His performances use both the Luganda and English languages, combining these with traditional instruments such as the endongo string instrument, the mbira, the xylophone and drums. He has performed on a local, national and international platform, with highlights including LaBa! Arts Festival, Milege World Music Festival, Haus Der Kulture Der Welt in Berlin and a residency at Nafasi Art Space, Tanzania.

Rap Poet founded and now hosts the Tontoma Poetry Jazz Sessions – monthly events  in Kampala which fuse music and poetry, alongside other artforms such as movement and fine art to create a unique experience. The evenings allow young people and the local community to connect with others, collaborate and discover the beauty of poetry. ‘Tontoma’ is a Luganda word meaning ‘to recite.’
