4 Ways Beatfreeks has Taken the Digital Space

This week has been one of the most digitally active we’ve ever been!

With all, that’s been going on in around the world and in what feels hopeless and strange we’ve seen humanity rise to the occasion and the digital space has been a force of good and positivity.

From the social media challenges that seem to be flooding our timelines and businesses becoming more visible. It’s clear times have changed. Amongst the noise Beat Freeks has managed to create a space for young voices to be heard nationwide.

Here is our digital round-up.

Our Take the Temperature survey that got young people to get involved and speak up on how COVID-19 has affected them. If you’re aged 14-25 search the #TakeTheTemp and follow the link in our bio to have your say as the survey ends on the 8th April.

This week at Lates we held our first-ever Netflix Party event. ‘Netflix and Create’– an evening where we provided our young people with the opportunity to stimulate conversation and creative outlets. If you’re not interested in watching some tv we also offer help with CVs, creative mentoring and guidance. The Beatfreeks community team is here to help you

Just because we’re isolation it doesn’t mean we stop bringing the professionals to you. So we held our publishing workshop on with Anthony Anaxagorou.

He’s a poet, fiction writer, publisher and poetry educator. His second collection, After the Formalities, was shortlisted for the 2019 T.S Eliot Prize. Anthony ran a one-off masterclass for getting your work published with Beatfeeks.

Finally, the first thursday of the month only means one thing. POETRY JAM!!

For the first time ever Poetry Jam went digital, nothing will stop us a Beatfreeks from letting our creative artists get a chance to be heard. It’s such an important thing, now more than ever.  It was a fantastic night with first-time performers and some of our regulars all in one space.

There’s nothing like a live event and so we couldn’t resist streaming it live on our YouTube channel. Don’t worry if you missed out because the whole night is available to playback!  The night was full of snaps not claps for the performers but we took time to applaud our NHS workers and front-liners who received a nationwide round of applause at 8 pm.

With all that’s going on make sure you stay connected to us socials and subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss out on any workshops and events happening throughout the isolation period.

Stay Home, Stay Safe.

From the Beatfreeks team to you.
