Don’t be annoyed that your friend chose the restaurant

Even though the food arrived an hour late,
By which time you had spaghetti nerves
spilling onto the table,
next to the evidence of a previous misunderstanding

beer creeping into the fibers and making a new home there,

And no matter how uncomfortable you were

with an allergy to shellfish

seated next to a lobster tank,

It’s fair to say

that wasn’t what annoyed you.

It wasn’t the restaurant.
