Life Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone

So I was asked to write this month about our running theme of ‘New Beginnings’.

For me this made me start to think about my mindset. Because I believe that mindset is everything and in anything you do it’s your mind that speaks.

Achievements: Mindset

“Mindset” – A set of beliefs or a way of thinking that determines one’s behaviour, outlook and mental attitude

I noticed in life that everyone wants change in some area of their life. They wake up one day and just decide that they are going to start doing something different, or have a day and plan their achievements and goals. This is great, but unless you are willing to change your mindset and start to become more aware of the thing you wanted to change, old habits are going to repeat over and over again.

Once habits have been set, it is hard to change, that’s why you have to focus intentionally on achieving the goals you have set this year.

As for some people, you have probably had the same goal you’ve had for years, or just decided (as it never worked in the past) that you are going to leave that out. My question to you is; How hard did you try? How determined were you? How conscious and aware of the change you wanted to make were you? How much did you have faith in yourself to achieve it in the first place?

All of these things have a massive play in the way things go, as anyone can say they are going to do this and that. But it’s the mindset behind the delivery that makes things different and achievable.

Now I’m not saying it’s going to be easy at all but it can definitely be done, you just have to believe.

Also set realistic goals for you. Don’t set goals that are not achievable. Have a plan for 6 months, 1 year, 3 years and set goals that will stretch you but not break you completely.

Some key things to change in our mindset:

  • Self believe

This is the main thing that has to change for any goal to be achieved. You have to have self belief. To believe that you can do what you set out to do, because, if everyone else were to fail you, it’s you yourself and more you.

  • Complacency

Personally, for me this is something I’m going to be working on this year. I can become complacent with things and then be complacent with being complacent, and then get nothing done and feel lazy ahh.

Or even in a sense of being complacent with where you have gotten. There is always improvements and higher heights. Never get too comfy where you are, know that there are always new dreams to be dreamt and delivered

  • Being truthful

Be truthful in everything, make sure your motives are pure and you respect everyone and their differences.

Start something new

So why not start something new this year? I decided that I was going to start football and I’m doing so to get fit again, and because I enjoy and miss doing sports.

Work is not everything and we have to have elements of things we really really enjoy in life.

Why not start:

  • Swimming

  • Athletics

  • Yoga

  • Cooking

  • Dance

  • Poetry

  • Taking time out for you (holidays/breaks)

  • Music (Singing, Producing, Teaching, Instruments)

  • Roller skating

  • Meeting friends more

  • Staying in more

  • Spa days

  • Loving more

And the list goes on. These are just a small range of things you could spend more time consciously doing this year. All you have to do is COMMIT to it, GROW and LEARN always.

“The problem is not the problem. the problem is your mindset about the problem” – Captain Jack Sparrow

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” – Neal Donald Walsch

Hope y’all have an amazing year this year!

Love you. Be you. Live you
