Silenced (For Saili Katebe)

She thought she couldn’t work,

she thought she couldn’t date,

she thought she couldn’t go out late,

she thought she couldn’t speak to boys,

or men, or her uncles.

she thought this was how it worked.

Little did she know, she could do anything she wants,

She just needed to be unsilenced.
